May 5 Jul 2005 was recognized by the World Health Organization as “World Hand Hygiene Day" and with the slogan ‘clean care is safe care’, it is aimed to increase the knowledge and awareness of health workers about hand hygiene.
Hand hygiene is a general concept used to refer to hand washing, hand washing with antiseptic, hand rubbing with antiseptic, or surgical hand antisepsis. Health service-related infections are an important public health problem all over the world. At least 30-50% of health service-related infections can be prevented only by compliance with hand hygiene. One of the most important rules for preventing infections related to health care is hand hygiene. In our hospital, the importance of hand hygiene is reminded to the medical staff not only on this special day, but also constantly with the trainings given by the Infection Control Committee throughout the year.
Hands are one of the most polluted organs in daily life. For this reason, many of the infectious diseases (hepatitis A, various diarrhea, etc.) can be prevented if people pay attention to hand hygiene not only in hospitals, but also in daily life.
May 5th is a special day all over the world and activities for hand hygiene are carried out. Our goal is to explain the importance of hand hygiene and create awareness. Because clean hands save lives.Jul. HAND HYGIENE ALONE IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE AND CHEAPEST METHOD OF PREVENTING HOSPITAL INFECTIONS.
